Phoxim, also known as oximthion and benithion, is a synthetic low-toxic organophosphorus insecticide, which is stable in neutral and acidic, decomposes quickly in alkaline, and has poor light stability. Decomposes quickly. It has the characteristics of high efficiency, low toxicity, broad spectrum, and long residual period of insecticidal effect. It has strong contact and stomach poisoning effects on pests; its quick killing effect on mosquitoes, flies, lice, and mites is second only to dichlorvos and tetramethrin, and stronger than Malathion, Fenthion.

The original drug of phoxim is light yellow oily liquid, insoluble in water, easily soluble in alcohols, ketones, aromatic hydrocarbons and other organic solvents. Slightly soluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons, slowly hydrolyzed in vegetable and mineral oils. Stable under neutral or acidic conditions. It is easy to decompose and fail under alkaline conditions, high temperature and ultraviolet light. Common preparations are 50% phoxim EC. Phoxim has obvious synergistic effect on pyrethroids or organophosphates, and there are many mixtures prepared with various insecticides.

Features of Phoxim

High-efficiency and low-toxic organophosphorus insecticide, mainly contact and stomach toxicity, no systemic effect, wide insecticidal spectrum, strong knockdown power, very effective against Lepidoptera larvae. When used in the field, because it is unstable to light, it will quickly decompose and fail, so the residual effect period is very short, and the residual risk is extremely small. The general residual effect period of foliar spray is 2-3 days; but when the drug is applied to the soil, its residual effect period is very short. Long, up to 1 to 2 months. It is suitable for the control of underground pests, especially for the control of grubs and mole crickets in peanuts, soybeans and wheat. It also has a good effect on the larvae of various Lepidoptera pests that harm peanuts, wheat, rice, cotton, corn, fruit trees, vegetables, mulberry, tea and other crops, and has a certain killing effect on eggs, and is also suitable for the control of warehouse and sanitary pests .

Applications of Phoxim

Phoxim is an organophosphorus insecticide mainly used to control underground pests. It is suitable for pest control of peanuts, wheat, rice, cotton, corn and other crops, and is also used to control fruit trees, vegetables, mulberry, tea and other pests. It has a good effect on the control of grubs, mole crickets, and wireworms.

Phoxim is a high-efficiency and low-toxic organophosphorus insecticide. It has stomach killing and contact killing effects. It is mainly used to control underground pests, pests such as fruit trees, vegetables, mulberry, and tea, as well as sanitary pests such as mosquitoes and flies, and storage pests.

Phoxim is a high-efficiency, low-toxicity, broad-spectrum insecticide, mainly with contact and stomach toxicity, without systemic effect. It has a good effect on older larvae of Lepidoptera and underground pests, as well as warehouse and sanitary pests. It can be used to control underground pests such as grubs, mole crickets, golden leaf insects, cotton aphids, cotton bollworms, wheat aphids, cabbage caterpillars, thrips, armyworms, rice budworms, rice leaf rollers, leafhoppers, planthoppers Chemicalbook, pine Caterpillars, corn borers, etc. To control underground pests, generally use 50% EC 100mL to water 5kg, mix with 50kg of wheat seeds, and put it for 2 to 3 hours after mixing to sow. Spray with 50% EC 1000 or 1500 times liquid to control other pests. It is forbidden to use on sorghum, soybean, and melon, and it should be used with caution on rice and corn. It should be applied in the evening or at night.

How to use phoxim

1 Stem and leaf spray: Generally, 1000-2000 times of 50% phoxim EC is sprayed per mu. Control wheat aphids, wheat leaf bees, cotton aphids, cabbage caterpillars, thrips, armyworms, aphids on fruit trees, apple leaf rollers, pear star caterpillars, grape leafhoppers, inchworms, whiteflies, tobacco budworms, etc. Use 50g (active ingredient) per mu to spray 50kg of water to control rice bract moth, rice leaf roller, leafhopper, planthopper, rice thrips, cotton bollworm, pink bollworm, cutworm, small leafhopper, planthopper , pine caterpillar, etc. Spray 50kg of water with 30-40g (active ingredient) per mu to prevent and control inchworms, moths, mulberry weeds, and mulberry caterpillars on mulberry trees.

2 Seed dressing: 100-165ml of 50% phoxim EC, diluted with 5-7.5kg of water, mixed with 50kg of wheat seeds, can effectively control grubs, mole crickets and other underground pests, and the effect of seedling preservation is good, which can be maintained for more than 20 days. Seed dressing can also be applied to corn, sorghum, millet, peanut and other crop seeds.

3. To prevent underground pests of peanuts, 1kg of 50% EC can be mixed with 10kg of slag with a diameter of about 2mm to make 5% phoxim poisonous sand. Let the medicine enter 5-6cm below the soil surface to prevent and control grubs, so that the whole seedlings can be sown in one shot. When soybeans are sown, 2.5kg poisonous sand per mu is sown together with the seeds to prevent grubs.

4 Irrigate and pour the heart with 50% emulsifiable oil 1000 times solution to prevent and control cutworms, and poisoned larvae will crawl out of the ground after 15 minutes. Fill the heart with 500 times or 2000 times of 50% EC to prevent corn borer, or mix 1kg of 50% phoxim EC with 15kg of slag or river sand with a diameter of about 2mm to make 3.3% phoxim poisonous sand, and use it on corn At the end of the heart leaf stage, 2.5kg of poisonous sand per mu was applied to the bell mouth, and the effect of controlling corn borer was good. During the peanut growth period, the root irrigation method can be used to control peanut grubs. When scarab eggs hatch to the 1st instar larvae, use 50% EC 1000-1500 times liquid to irrigate the pier, and pour 50-100ml of medicinal solution per pier or apply it in a ditch next to the pier, and the effect can be more than 90%. 2000 times liquid of 50% phoxim EC can be used to control root maggots in vegetable fields such as leeks, green onions, and garlic, and the effect is also very good.

Precautions for phoxim

1 The liquid medicine should be used as it is prepared, and it cannot be mixed with alkaline medicine.

2 The medicine has a strong killing effect on the eggs, larvae and adults of the natural enemy of aphids, the seven-spot ladybird, within the range of application concentration, so care should be taken when using the medicine.

3 Symptoms of poisoning: Acute poisoning usually occurs within 12 hours, and the onset occurs immediately after oral administration. Mild: Headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, hyperhidrosis, weakness, chest tightness, blurred vision, poor appetite, etc. The activity of cholinesterase in whole blood drops to 70-50% of the normal value. Moderate: In addition to the above symptoms, mild dyspnea, muscle tremor, miosis, trance, unsteady walking, profuse sweating, salivation, abdominal pain, and diarrhea also occurred. In severe cases, coma, convulsions, dyspnea, foaming at the mouth, incontinence, convulsions, and respiratory paralysis may also occur.

4 First aid methods for poisoning

Subcutaneous or intravenous injection of 1-5 mg of atropine (depending on the severity of poisoning), intravenous injection of 0.4-1.2 g of pralidoxime (depending on the severity of poisoning), and morphine, theophylline, phenothiazine, and reserpine are prohibited. After taking it, induce vomiting, gastric lavage, and catharsis (vomiting can only be induced when awake).
